Desires of the Heart

by Jennifer at Dear Lillie
I love how you can see a photo and you're instantly drawn to it. How an image can evoke long held memories or stir up dormant dreams.

by Anita at Cedar Hill Ranch
How the glimpse of a face, a place, a smile...can immediately stir a quiet desire in your heart.

I believe those desires are God given. And He blesses us with the fulfilment of those desires. Psalm 37:4

But it doesn't happen immediately. The desire is also a journey.
The journey to meet the right someone. The journey to have a family. The journey to fulfill a career. The journey to...?

To be honest with you, I have tears in my eyes as I write this. I don't know where these desires will lead us or what God has in store. This post is a statement of faith! One day we will see the desires of our hearts fulfilled. All in God's timing.
In the meantime, I am determined to trust! Trust, believe, hang on and enjoy the journey!

  1. Oh, Sonya - how beautiful. It makes me sad to think of you in tears - always trust. Always. BTW, Cedar Hill Ranch is almost like the home I grew up and speaks to me the same way. xoxo Bev

  7. My sweet Mommy, I truly believe that God has a plan bigger than you and Dad can even imagine for our family...and I have no doubts that His plan will include your desires and love for the country. The pictures you posted also bring tears to my eyes partly because God has given me your ability to cry at any given moment, but also because I believe He has placed similar desires in my heart. I love you!

  9. Beautiful post my friend! I wish I knew what to say...I'm a wreck right now and tears flow easily. 9/11 is so difficult for me ~ that was one of the most trying times of my career with American. So much loss and pain for so many affected by those events...my heart goes out to all the families.

I hope you find peace ~ it's always there for us if we just stop and pay attention. That's what I need to do!

  10. Welp God definitely spread the gift of crying far and wide our in our family :) When I think about all that God has given us, and those promises He makes over us, I can't help but get a bit teary-eyed as well! We are so blessed :) And I agree with Court, God has given you those desires for a purpose and I believe they will be fulfilled, in God's perfect timing! But of course it's always fun to look and plan while we're waiting :) Love you!

  11. Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart. Ps 127:3 I've always read that and believed all we had to do is desire something. Now I realize that it's God who puts those desires in our hearts in the first place and he wouldn't have put them there unless he had a plan to fufill them. Great is His faithfullness!

  12. Sonya - this is so inspiring! When we follow the Lord closely, he indeed does give us the desires we feel in our hearts. And he equips us to not only believe in the dream, but to follow the journey!

I love this so much! You are a beautiful woman with such love for Christ in your heat! Thanks for sharing your heart with us!

  13. What a beautiful post! As I am reading this and leaving a comment, the song In His Time is playing. "Lord please show me every day as you're teaching me your way that you do just what you say, in your time." I want to learn from this that He is telling me just what I need to hear at just the right time, and rest. I'm glad I found you blog. Terry P.S. Thanks for the comment about the chandelier, and I hope to meet your daughter.
