Here's a new fabric combination on a tried and true pillow design.
This pair of 20"x25" accent pillows, began with the large, upholstery weight floral print which is also being used to recover the nearby dining room chair seats.
Finding the right mix of fabrics was a challenge for these pillows. In this case, my dilemma came in finding fabrics that would work great in the same room as the focal fabric but not side-by-side on a pillow. Also, we were aiming for a Ralph Lauren feel which ruled out many options as well.

The fabrics finally chosen were a black and cream woven houndstooth, a brick-red & tan silk check, a brick-red velvet and olive green for ruffles and a chocolate brown for the back (same fabric was used on the back of a duvet seen here). I thought the tiny leather trim was the perfect finishing touch for our nod towards Mr. Lauren.
Shown here on it's new home, a gorgeous cream damask sofa.
*This pillow was made for and is shown with a queen size feather insert. Even though the pillow cover is 20x25, we later replaced the 20x28 queen insert with a 20x36 king-sized feather insert. It actually works! Plus it gave the pillow a much firmer and fuller look.
This cream, tone-on-tone damask pillow with ruffle was made to help brighten up a dark corner of the living room.
I had the hardest time photographing this pillow. Maybe it was the sheen on the fabrics, I'm not sure, but the colors are not showing at their best. I loved the details on this one so much I'm showing it anyway.
The guest room got three simple pillows made in coordinating linen prints. Two 20" pillows with contrast piping and one 14x20 with a small flange and ruffled corner details.
Many of the fabrics shown here were purchased through Interior Fabrics.
Ready for new pillows?
I'm feeling pillow poor myself these days. I recently looked around my living room and I only have 2 pillows in there! How did that happen? I used to have so many you couldn't sit down!

Hi Sonya,
ReplyDeleteYou create the most beautiful pillows and I love all of the different styles.
With your discount I'm sure they are going to go fast.

The suzani prints look really updated Sonya! I have to say my fav is the one you said was hardest to photograph. I love it!
ReplyDeleteYou do such a beautiful job, Sonya. And each one is so different from the next. Usually people get in a pillow "rut" sewing and they all kind of look alike. Great job! xo Diana
