I have NEVER subscribed to the "Less is More" theory!
Especially with pillows.
In fact, I am really more of a "More is More" kind of girl.
ESPECIALLY WITH PILLOWS!!!
Today I'd like to show you one of my favorites.
Isn't this just adorable!!!
I found the front for this pillow at a booth at the First Monday Flea Market in Canton, Texas.
The small town of Canton, Texas holds a HUGE flea market once a month on the weekend prior to the first Monday of each month. Did you have to read that twice??? I know, it's confusing to me too. So I always look up Canton, Texas each time I'm interested just to make sure I've got the correct dates! (Canton has a great website with all the info you need!)
Anyhoo, back to the pillow. The crewel work is all hand done! Someone took a lot of time and effort to work this piece. Due to fade lines I could see around the edge I think it was originally framed but as soon as I saw it I knew...PILLOW!!! And I only gave $6 for it!
So, I chose some linen from my fabric stash that was close to the background color. I then coffee stained it to get an aged look. This made the new fabric look more like the original crewel work fabric. I then added a 4" gathered ruffle around the outer edge. (I love ruffles!)
And just look at the sweetest part of the pillow!!!
The BACK!!!
Isn't that tiny ruffle just the cutest thing? And the sweet assortment of buttons?
That is a really great pillow! I love the colours and the buttons!!
ReplyDeleteDon't be surprised if it goes missing the next time I come home! :)
