Custom TOMS

 Have you ever painted shoes?

This may be a first for me!

Okay, maybe I've painted thrift store shoes
to match a costume for a play or Halloween.

But, a pair of brand new TOMS that cost around $44.00?

One of my older daughter's friends brought the TOMS to me
and asked if I would paint them.
He wanted to give them to her as a birthday present!

Seems she had mentioned how she'd like to have a pair
that were custom painted!

This is the same daughter who spray painted
a pair of cowboy boots SILVER!!

 AND WORE THEM!!!

Here they are in they're pristine new condition.

I had NO idea how she wanted these painted!  So we gave up
on the idea of it being a secret and showed her the shoes!

She was very excited and promptly brought me this
collage of all the designs and a list of colors
she'd like to have on the shoes!

 Needless to say,
all her choices didn't make it!

So, after a few weeks of being a "chicken" about
painting on these shoes, I finally took the plunge
and drew out a design.

Using regular craft paints I started in.

Actually, once I started painting it went pretty fast.

One of the choices she had included was the scripture
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

I have to admit I like the way the painting turned out
better than my writing.

But she wanted a HAND PAINTED look and
that's what she got!

She asked for WINGS on the heels.
Zebra on one side and the scripture on the other.

And flowers and swirls across the front!
KaKa is her nickname, hence the K's.

Now I can add "Shoe Painter" to my resume!

Have a Colorfully Blessed Day!

  4. Adorable shoes...have you considered sealing them with a gel medium so that they last longer and repel stains! Well done!

  5. Sonya-These are adorable! Hand-painted white canvas Keds were all the rage in boutiques around here in the 80's. They were expensive too! Yours are every bit as cute as those were. I love the scripture on it. You may have come up with the next "new" fad! Thanks for stopping by. I am glad to "meet" you!

  7. Thanks for stopping by "In His Grip." Oh my heck, these are the cutiest ever. I have always liked the mission behind of Toms shoes, but have always thought they were a little ugly. But you have made them into something I would wear. I need to go buy a pair now. Thanks for the inspiration!

  18. This is so neat, Sonya! I can't believe you are even more talented than window treatments and pillows would have us believe! : ) I love this and I think your writing is just as good as the painting portion. It probably was a good idea to get her involved in the design, even though it was a present.
