This is my niece, Ciera's bedroom!
Ciera and her mom, Angie, have been working together to update
Ciera's bedroom for her 12th birthday.
Ciera has one of those awesome bedroom spaces!
Her room is often called the "bonus room" in a lot of house plans.
So it's HUGE!
Ciera picked out the colorful duvet from Pottery Barn Teen.
They painted the walls an amazing tropical turquoise.
And Angie made the zebra bed skirt and pillows.
Look at these adorable window treatments! Angie used two
coordinating black & white prints to form horizontal bands.
She accented the panels with a solid black fabric
and black pom-pom fringe.
Another birthday gift was the new wall calendar
(also Pottery Barn).
This is a peel and stick dry erase board!
How's this for a clever idea?
Angie bought these inexpensive plastic tote bags at Hobby Lobby.
They coordinate with the room, tuck neatly under the desk
and hold all of Ciera's craft supplies!
Ciera lives in North Carolina. Prior to us going out to visit, Ciera
facebooked me (this still makes me smile) and asked if
I'd help paint her cheval mirror.
I said, I'd love to!
Somewhere there is a before picture..
But I can't find it!!!
It looked something like this!
Actually, I had the fun job!
Angie had already completed all the prep work!
She sanded, primed and painted before I got there!
Using black gloss craft paint I painted the zebra stripes
around the face of the mirror.
The pop of fuchsia is a hot pink pearlized craft paint.
We then painted the base black.
(Sorry about the dirty mirror! It was still wet when I
took the pictures so we couldn't clean it!)
LOOK HOW CUTE THIS TURNED OUT!!!
Ciera loves her "new" mirror!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CIERA!
Off the subject...
I have to ask if anyone noticed the Biscuitville cup on the dresser?
Living in Oklahoma, going to Biscuitville is one of the highlights
of every trip to NC. There's just something about a country ham
biscuit when you can't get one at home.
My husband thinks this is VERY weird!
But, if you're from the south you might agree with me!
Ok, Moving on...
Have a Whimsically Blessed Day!

That's such a fun room! And the mirror is great too!
ReplyDeleteYou are such an artist, Sonya. That mirror is over-the-top cute. Happy birthday, Ciera! Okay, I looked this post over several times and do not see anything that looks like a cup, or biscuit tin, or whatever.
ReplyDeleteThat room is the bomb.com!!! I love it!!! Gosh, you are so talented! I wanna be like you when I grow up! lol
ReplyDeleteWhat a darling mirror! You are so talented! I can't believe you paint too! What a lucky girl to have such a darling room!
ReplyDeleteYou are too funny about the ham biscuit! My whole family has things like that we like when we visit other places...weird yes...but fun too;)!
Kim, Biscuitville is a fast food resturant(yellow cup in last pic) that I thought was located through out the southeast. Evidently, (I looked it up) they are just located in NC and VA.
ReplyDeleteThey are only open until 2:00pm each day and serve the most delicious biscuits! My favorite being the country ham. The county ham is the part I'm so weird about ! You can't get that west of the Mississippi! LOL
Sorry for the confusion!
Great job on the mirror; you continually amaze me with all your talents! Love the fuchsia accents.
ReplyDelete(and yes, you are a little over the top about Biscuitville! :)
Awesome...great job!!! Love the mirror...I will have to let my daughter see that for her new apartment!
ReplyDeleteThat mirror is great! I would have loved to have a room like that when I was a young girl. La

Don't let anyone give you a hard time about Biscuitville! I love it, too! David and I used to go there for lunch when we were in high school (now he's a healthy eater and won't eat one).
ReplyDeleteI love the room and the mirror is absolutely adorable! I still remember the beautiful images you painted for us on Ben's walls. It was sad to leave those behind when we left.
What a FUN looking mirror...looks great!!!!

Linda
