This bedroom is ALL BOY! Football, Rodeo, Texas Longhorns, Baseball...Designing a room around all this AND the color orange is NOT an easy task! But my sister did it! And it turned out great!
My nephew, Tyler, like his Dad and Grandad before him, has grown up on a farm. He has been driving a farm truck since he was about 8! He couldn't reach the pedals, so he would turn off the engine in order to make it stop!
He is an avid Texas Longhorns fan in the middle of a family of Oklahoma fans, plays baseball and football and works a farm with his Dad.
My sister, Sheri has pulled his room together to showcase all of these aspects of Tyler's personality. Sheri made his pillow shams from faux leather and appliqued the "longhorn" on the accent pillow.
Together, Sheri and I came up with the faux leather lace-up valances for the windows. (These were inspired by a lace-up valance at Pate Meadows.)
We thought it played off the football memorabilia in the room!
Another great teenage boy's room!
Isn't it fun seeing your children's personalities in their rooms?

Love all your decorating, although we are an OU Sooner family, so can't let my husband see this comment! lol I'm your newest follower!
ReplyDeleteIt's funny to see his room with all the Texas orange. My son just asked me to redo his room in his travel baseball teams colors of.....texas orange, black & white. I'm still thinking on how to make it work but she did a great job.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the inspiration.
This is wonderful, Sonya! I love it! What a great pillow and valance.
ReplyDeleteEven though I am a Texas Aggie . . .I can still admire a good room!! LOL Your sister did a fabulous job! Don't tell anyone but I really like the way burnt orange and brown look together.
ReplyDeleteThat is fabulous, funny enough, I had the exact same ball jar lamp in my room with a checked shade when I was growing up. Good things always come back around!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great room and the orange works so well with the tan colour on the walls. I LOVE the valances you made - SO ORIGINAL!
ReplyDeleteLove it! As Longhorns fans here, everything looks stunning! I love it!

Such a cute room. I like how she used vintage items throughout.
ReplyDeleteSonya, I cannot say enough about how much I LOVE that valance!!! So creative and really the entire room is wonderful. I know we are nearing the stage of transitioning our son's room to a real "big boy" room and it kinda makes me sad but seeing these pics also makes me excited for how we can infuse his personality in it. Thanks so much for sharing this!

This room is absolutely fabulous. I love everything. What a fun and creative room for a boy that is all boy. Love it. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteThose orange longhorns are real eye-catchers. What a fun room.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great room...it's 100% Tyler! Sheri did a great job decorating, and those window treatments are fantastic.
ReplyDeleteHey Sonya, just coming back by to say thanks for linking up your posts to the party this week! I need to go over and enter your giveaway now! :-)

Wow! I can't wait to explore your blog! I like what I see so far. I was going to let you know that I don't know the maker of my green chairs. However, if you call Weir's furniture store in Dallas, and ask for their general store, (it is actually a small general store inside the furniture store, it is super cute) they can tell you the maker. I hope that helps!
ReplyDeleteOh, makes me homesick for Texas! It is a great room, but I still say Gig 'em Ags :-)
ReplyDeleteOh those valances are so cute Sonya! I Love how much of his personality is in his room- you guys did a great job!! Thanks for sharing this at my party this week! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat room and love the valances! You are so talented!
ReplyDeleteBest,
Gloria
Man what a cool room Sonya! Of course the window treatments really make a statement, I have never seen ones like that!
ReplyDeleteI love this room! I'm going to be re-doing my son's room soon, and I'm totally stealing some of the ideas here.
ReplyDeleteI love the stacked up ice chest and crates! The window valances are pretty cool, too. Great room!
What a cool room. Love the leathery shade too!
ReplyDeleteThis is really a great room! I really like the pillow and the clever nightstand!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm re-making my teenage son's room. It's not nearly as put together as your room but we're getting there. I hope to finish this room before the holidays. Stop over and check it out

I love it Sonya. It's fun and creative all in one. It looks fantastic. Great design!
ReplyDeleteMy cousin is a Longhorn and lives in Austin.
Happy week! ~Melissa :)
Wow! I love the curtains and I love the nightstand! It's all beautiful!! (er, Handsome....)
ReplyDeleteSONYA!!
ReplyDeleteThis room is awesome!
My sister just moved to San Antonio and is already a LongHorns fan--I am sending this post to her-my nephews will love this room!
Hugs,

P.S. I adore the window treatment and the stacked nightstand-too cool!
Sonya, this really is a cute room with the mix of vintage items and how they are used in unique ways. Thanks for joining the party this week!
ReplyDeleteStopping by from Kim's Boring to Better party!! What an awesome room. It is unique and not just a "theme"! The stacked nightstands are my fave!
ReplyDeleteLooks great! I just posted about trying to update/organize my 9yo daughters room, so much stuff. I love the creative touches with the trunks stacked. That valance is too cute.
ReplyDeleteOrange is such a challenge to decorate around. We're Alabama fans (husband went there) so I can sympathize with decorating around a teams colors. Tks for sharing your nephews room.
This really was an amazing feat but it came together so well and has a really cohesive feel. Please tell me it was picked up for the photos. My sons rooms never look like that. :)
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing on Motivated Monday at BeColorful
