The time has come to share some of my own Christmas decor. Meaning, I finally got it finished! (Well, except for all the boxes that still need to be put away!)
This year instead of one big tree I did a collection of three smaller trees.
This is what my family now calls the "We Three Trees" version of trimming the tree.
A few years ago, before I could stop him, my husband tossed out our HUGE, old, artificial tree! (He claimed it was past the point of no return...I'm still doubting it!) Since then, we have often bought a live tree. When we decide not to buy a live tree, I use the smaller trees that are usually scattered through out the house.
Since, we have 9' ceilings, the trees are sitting on tables and chairs to give added height.
I tend to tweak the color scheme on our main tree every few years. The latest version came after I found these vintage ornaments at an estate sale! Can you believe that? $1 a box!
My Christmas tree decor is more "sentimental" than "designer". The process of decorating the tree, seeing all the old ornaments that bring back memories, is such a special time for me. So, the majority of my ornaments are the same ones I've used for years!
Along with the "new" vintage ornaments, I used turquoise and pink glitter balls, that usually go on the kids tree, to create a bright and colorful scheme.
The tree was finished out with bright pink garland, multi-colored beaded garland, lime green tulle, silver balls, lime green balls and a multitude of collected ornaments...my favorites being the hand made "photo" ornaments of my kids.
Here, in a wider shot of our family room, you can see the stockings that were made several years ago. (Have to admit, I'm getting the urge to make new ones...won't be this year though!) Oops, forgot to change out the fall decor in the glass jar!
The three candlesticks were found, several years ago, in the garden department of Hobby Lobby. The painting is a TJ Maxx find.
The lighted garland is actually a couple of separate garlands, intertwined.
The lighted trees, garland and the blue glass balls (from the home accessories department at HL) give the mantle just the right amount of Christmas cheer!
To me, this shot represents why we decorate! To celebrate the birth of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus, with all our family and friends!
Merry Christmas!

ReplyDeleteAbsolutely stunning. You have serious talent.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness. I am just a slacker in comparison to you. I love your tree. Our tree is very traditional and has more home made stuff on it. I will be showing it soon too. I love your room, everything is so festive and colorful!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh that is one of the prettiest posts I've seen this season.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous!!! Love the idea of the 3 smaller trees.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful and I like the idea of smaller and multiple trees!!!
ReplyDeleteThat is so so pretty! I actually like the smaller tree collections. We haven't put anything up yet... but I think you have inspired me to go pick up a couple of smaller trees and create something new! I love it!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!

So very pretty! I love looking at everybody's trees! I debated on wether we should get a live tree or not this year. Kinda tired of the mess but the tree I wanted was not quite tall enough or else we would have gone faux! Then again the boys are still young and love to pick a tree so I guess we have a few more years of a real one. Love your holiday decor! It is soo warm and cozy!
ReplyDeleteOh what a beautiful site! Love it all, Sonya! I also think the ribbons you tied your ornaments with add a lot! Thank you for sharing your beautiful home!

Just gorgeous. The fireplace area looks so inviting I could curl up with a cup a tea and a great magaizne there.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty and colorful, Sonya! I didn't expect anything less! : ) I also decorate for sentiment using ornaments that we've acquired over the years and that have memories. We used to get a real tree until a couple of years ago when the hubster brought home a fake one. It was difficult trying to plan everyone's schedule around going to get the real one {which we did as a family tradition}, and my kids are older; in the case of my daughter, making her own traditions now.
ReplyDeleteHi Sonya! I tried to convince hubs to do a fake tree this year so I could decorate early and not worry about it drying out...but no. However he wanted to get a smaller tree than normal, and so we did. We put it up on a wooden box and covered it with a tablecloth. Its pure genius to elevate the small trees, isn't it?! We added a piano to the room and now we don't have the same space to put a full size tree....but the small tree up high is like a tall tree! I love the grouping you made. I usually have a million ornaments from 30 years of living with kids etc., but this time I edited them down to a kind of theme by soft color. All the others will hopefully go on a small black Forest fake tree we have that I put in another room.
ReplyDeleteYour trees are so pretty. I'm like you and use all the sentimental ornaments too !
ReplyDeleteNot decorator-like, ha! Those trees together is a fantastic idea. I love your mantel, asymmetrical gets me every time. You didn't say a word about those caged moss trees at the end of the mantel..?
ReplyDeleteI love the colors and the sparkly aspect, this is wonderful!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the use of multiple trees! They are gorgeous together. And those moss balls in the forms are great. Did you make those or buy them. I just might need some (like I need anything)!

ReplyDeleteYou did it! Wow, now I am jealous that you are done! And I must say: everything looks gorgeous! What a creative idea to do more than one tree with different sizes -- love it! You did a beautiful job decorating the trees, and the mantle too. And your stockings look great -- No need for new ones! Your whole house looks lovely.

Love your unique idea of displaying a set of trees! So beautiful. I'm definitely going to keep this in mind for future years. Cheers! ~ Julie
ReplyDeleteHi Sonya! Well, I knew it wouldn't disappoint and I was right! :-) Your trees are just gorgeous and I cracked up about the "we three trees"! I love that it is so very beautiful and I love that you balanced out so perfectly the designer element with the "real life" element of beloved family ornaments and treasures. I'm really thinking you may need to give another tour of your home in the new year because as I was "peeking" around in your photos I was noticing once again how very gorgeous your home is! :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for linking up to the party!
