I have another beautiful (if I do say so myself) window treatment to share with you today. These stunning drapes were made for the dining room of my friend, Lisa's home.
The floor length panels were made from a deep red taffeta with alternating stripes of gold (which perfectly matched her walls) and an embroidered vine pattern in red, gold and green. These were hung from wooden rods and rings. The cream cafe sheers were topped with a red velvet cuff and hung from a twisted metal rod with clip rings. Both the panels and sheers were hemmed to gently puddle of the floors.
The top of the panels were hung in a droop style, accented with a 1.5" red velvet ruffle and lined with gold silk.
This is the fourth room in Lisa's home that I have been privileged to make window treatments for. By this time we had quite a collection of remnants. I used these remnants to create a 54" x 54" pieced tablecloth. This can be used as shown here, as a topper on a round accent table or even draped around a tree as a tree skirt!
The edging is a 2" ruffle/flange combination. The ruffles round the corners and are in the center on each side. The rest of the edging is a straight flange. A very sweet accent.
I used all of Lisa's fabrics plus mixed in additional remnants to finish the tablecloth.
After trying numerous other colors, which just weren't right, Lisa found the perfect solution. Not green or gold or brown but...
"antique earth".
Lisa used Behr's one coat coverage paint with primer. She highly recommends it. She said it worked great when she covered her daughter's "Pepto" pink walls!
Wow! This post ended up with a little bit of everything in it! Hope you found some great inspiration!
Many Blessings,

Your talents are simply unbelievable! From the design right down to actually creating these items just blows my mind! I think custom window treatments are the necessary finishing touch for a well-dressed room! BEAUTIFUL!
ReplyDeleteAs A person that sews, you have inspired me. I would love to know how the upper backs of the drapes in the dining room were done to hang the wooden rings. I am going to make drapes for my daughter room and love how these look. Terry

ReplyDeleteHi Sweetie Pie, I was wondering what you were up to. Did you get your Xmas decor out of the boxes yet? Before I sew anymore window treatments, I'm going to come back over here and get some inspiration. I'm going to post the client I did a couple of weeks ago this weekend. I totally love your "scrap" table square and tree skirt - you know that's on my to-do list.
ReplyDeleteHi Sonya! You and your clients are women after my own heart with using all of these rich colors and patterns. My favorite part of the first window treatment is the cafe sheers with the cuff...perfection! You are so talented and I am so glad that you linked this up to the party this week! :-)

I love the drapes and the beautiful tablecloth! These are such wonderful colors to decorate with! ♥
ReplyDeleteSo yummy! That chocolate brown floral is one of my all time favorite fabrics. I'm getting ready to start some 27x27 shams for my daughter for X-Mas. She choose some gorgeous farics. Should be lots of fun to make. Your work is just fabulous!
ReplyDeleteAs always I find your blog inspiring. I love this floral fabric in the bathroom with the wallpaper. I also think the first treatment with the velvet cuff is elegant and my fav is the lace with the velvet....you know you may be seeing that one around Maison Decor!
ReplyDeleteThe drapes look lovely, but I really like how the tablecloth turned out. The fabrics go together very nicely. Thanks so much for sharing. :)
ReplyDeleteYou are amazing. How do you come up with all of this? I love how you mix patterns. Girlfriend you have quite the eye.
ReplyDeleteI am hosting another linky party tomorrow. I hope you can join in. Your stuff is always so unique.

I adore these curtains and the center panels with the velvet trim at top. I really like the curtain rods used for the cafe panel. Currently I've been using just spring rods till I find what I want to use permanently. Do you know where she got these?
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful window treatments! I love the deep, rich colors and the velvet accents are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteAlways beautiful, Sonya. Always.
