Welcome to Our Home - Living Room

Over the past few months, as I've shown projects throughout our house, several of you have commented that you'd like to see more.
Well...Welcome to Our Home!

Living Room - Kitchen, background right
We were blessed to be able to build our home five years ago. I enjoyed the process so much I was ready to do it again almost immediately! My husband...not so much!
The black and white floors were a must for me. I made sure I saved money elsewhere so I could pay the extra to have the tile installed on the diagonal.  This was a BIG priority for me. I love the way these floors turned out!
As I look at these pictures (which if you have a good eye you'll spy the pumpkins and know these pics are a few months old) I see projects still to be done! All those projects, floating around in my head, waiting to be accomplished! But as they will NEVER ALL be complete, I thought I'd go ahead and show you our home!
You guys understand what I'm talking about! As soon as one project is finished, another one is just waiting to be started!
To explain the layout a bit, the master bedroom is through the doorway on the left.  From where I stood to take the above photo, if you look immediately to your left you'll see this view into the dining room.

I love the look of brick inside a home.  Instead of using it in the kitchen (where I didn't have the room to use it properly) we decided to use the brick as arched walls to accent our dining room. This is the same brick we used on the exterior of the house.
Here you can see a glimpse into the entry. (This is an older picture. The table is scooted over to allow room for the piano-on the left out of sight- which we've since moved. See, there's one project taken care of!)

The twig wreath hanging in the dining room was one of my first purchases for the house! I found it at a local antique/craft/home accessories store called The Market. Fell in love with it and bought it to go above the fireplace!
As I was on the way home I started doing the math and realized IT WASN'T GOING TO FIT! So...on to plan B and here it has hung ever since!
From the dining room, if you walk to your left...

...you begin to see our kitchen...

...but that, my dear friends, is a story for another day!

Thank you for joining me in this little tour of our home!
Up next...the Kitchen!

  1. Your home is so beautiful! But even more important (I think) is that it is welcoming and comfortable (or maybe that's just you and your family). I see NO projects that need to done. :) My favorite may be the dining room....love the brick arches and that gorgeous twig wreath!

  2. Love your front door and windows with the eight openings. Makes the view much prettier and your colors are my colors! I noticed a tyler candle on the table in the den, I heart those. And I do the same thing with the lid. Always afraid they might scorch the wood. I burn them till they are gone.

  11. Oh, you've ended this tour far too soon! I was just getting started (lol)! The suspense will keep us all coming back for more. I don't even know where to begin but I absolutely LOVE the use of the brick indoors! That, the black and white tiled floor and then the hardwood ... it's all gorgeous! The interior has a look of being around for a very long time. It seems to have a history about it ... not any sort of newness. I'm guessing that was all part of your master plan! WOW ... can't wait for the tour to continue! xox
