More Than You Can Say Grace Over

Recently, during an email conversation with my sister Stacy, I commented on how busy I was with work. Extrememly thankful to be so busy, but a bit overwhelmed at the moment trying to keep up with being mom, wife, designer, blogger, housekeeper...the list goes on.

When Stacy wrote back she said...
"As Dad would say, you have more than you can say grace over! What a wonderful “problem” to have."

This has kinda stuck in my head..."more than you can say grace over."

What does this really mean? I have to tell you, I had to mull this one over for a while. It got me to thinking...Am I truly thankful...I mean really thankful...for just how blessed I am? Is it possible? Are we capable of expressing our true thankfulness for all the Father has done for us?

When I begin to consider all my blessings I am simply overwhelmed. Overwhelmed with gratitude and the unmistakable knowledge that my God loves me!

Do I deserve it?
Absolutely not!
But He loves me.
He loves you!

He loves us all so much that He blesses us beyond measure.

We could all list tangible items. Things come to mind like our homes, food on the table, clothes and yes, even our jobs and what that provides.
But think about the intangible. Sometimes I belive it's those intangible things that we tend to take for granted or possibly not even consider to be thankful for.

I'm thinking about things like joy and laughter...joy that comes from seeing your kids laughing so uncontrollably that you can't help but laugh with them even if you don't know why!

Knowing there is a place we can be ourselves without artifice. Knowing that we can be angry or have disagreements, even heated arguments, be upset, cry but still be accepted for who we are.
The gift of creativity...which I believe comes straight from The Creator.

Being thankful.
It may seem easier to be thankful in the good times but often that's when we forget. I don't want to forget. I don't want my life to be lived unaware or oblivious to my blessings. Or to take them for granted.

Since discovering blogging, I've read wonderful, inspiring posts that have really touched my soul. Posts where hearts are laid open and bare. Revealing more of me does not come easily. But lately, I have been feeling that with this role as blogger (a role that I whole heartedly love and embrace) comes an opportunity to be able to say thank you...to say Grace.

Do you ever feel like you have more than you can say Grace over?

Me?
All the time.
Edit: After reading my daughter Kaleigh's comment I had to include this scripture.

Who can list the glorious miracles of your hand, Lord? Who can ever praise you half enough? Psalm 106:2

  3. I've never heard that before, but I like it! I was just (this a.m.) listening to a sermon that said joy is a distinguishing characteristic of the Christian faith. I also think of the verse, and chorus: The LORD gave, and the LORD had taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD. Job. 1:21b

I was feeling overwhelmed with the responsibilities I currently have, but this gave me just the right way to look at them.....I feel beyond blessed to have more than I can say grace over and will repeat this phrase each time it feels I can't keep going.

  12. I so understand what you are saying. It's just too easy to get all caught up in the little things and overlook the blessings.

Did y'all have any storm damage last night? There are many trees down in our area...some of them on top of houses. If you see them mentioning the Kickingbird Cinema on the news, we live really close to that. We are ok though.

  14. Sis, I am now handing over the reigns of the Wading Pool to you! Awesome post! You (nearly) had me in tears! We ARE truly blessed, aren't we? Why God is so good and gracious to us, I can't comprehend, but I am SO very thankful! Truly, we have more than we can say grace over! Love you sis!

  15. Sonya, I've heard that saying all my life but I so appreciate your bringing it to my attention today. I've had such a yucky attitude lately with this brutal heat...told my daughter the other day I needed to focus on gratitude. God blesses us in infinite ways, some we are never really conscious of. How great is that love?
