A Twist on a Wedding Craft

While we were packing up the wedding decor my Mom commented on how much she liked the table numbers we used for the wedding reception.
 Remember these?
She wondered if we could make a larger post and paint her address on it using the same concept. I said sure we can! And I'd bring it out to her in North Carolina in just a few weeks.
It just so happens, that in our leftover stash of wedding craft supplies was a 4' fence post that was once used on my sister Sheri's property. Even better! My Mom loves anything with a sentimental attachment.
I dry brushed the post with the same white paint we used for the table numbers but decided to finish the project in NC.
You should have seen my husband's face when I handed him this 4' fence post as he was helping me pack the car! All I said was "don't ask."
So now, on to the very technical aspect of painting the address. Since we don't own any of the fancy machines that would be oh, so helpful with a project like this, I just choose a font we liked, enlarged it and traced the letters straight from the computer screen.
Next, I positioned the letter or number on the post and traced over it using a very heavy hand so my tracing would make an imprint in the wood.  I then drew out letter from the imprint I'd made. Like I said...very technical.
All that was left to do was paint the letters and numbers.
The best option would be to use an outdoor paint for the base as well as the letters. We choose to use what we had on hand, which was black craft paint, and seal the post with a clear sealer.
As a finishing touch my Dad added a post finial to the top and supports to the base. He finished this part of the project after I went home.
With me, whether I'm at home or on vacation, there's always so many projects and never enough time!
So now my parents have another memento of Courtney's wedding...with a twist!
