Halloween Masks...Scarlett Style

Pink Poodle
I'd like you to meet Scarlett! Scarlett is absolutely one of the most talented people I know. From painting murals you would NOT believe to sewing to creating Halloween masks. She amazes me with her talent!
Horse
Scarlett and I are cousins my marriage. Our Mother-in-Laws are first cousins. When I came across these photos on facebook I asked Scarlett if I could share these with all of you. She graciously said yes!
Monkey
I look at these masks she made and see a fearless approach to creativity that is so inspires me! Being creative, I often find myself saying, "I can do that!" sometimes biting off more than I can chew!
Scarlett's daughter the Wolf
But I truly believe that if Scarlett imagines it she can create it! paint it! make it! And she does it excellently!

The Alligator
Scarlett's latest creation is this year's Alligator costume for her daughter. She's still working on a few finishing details like alligator hands.

The Fox
One of the first masks she made was the Fox. The foundation for these masks is a regular plastic adult mask. Here's the instructions she included with this photo.
HOW TO:
Regular adult mask, cut out forehead in a V shape
Use hardware cloth to create nose cone. Hot glue into place.
Paper Mache over nose cone and paper mache ears.
Paint orange with red highlights. Paint black 'eyeliner, nose, mouth and inner ears.
add glitter glue swirlies.
Split black ostrich feather down main quill and trim featherlets to look like eyelashes. curl.
Add white feathers to back side for cheek tufts.
VOILA! ADORABLE FOX MASK

Scarlett said she makes the papermache for the masks from paper grocery bags and wallpaper paste.
Thank you, Scarlett! For sharing your creations with us!
Scarlett has just recently opened her own Etsy Store. Her first item listed are these adorable hand painted Old World Santa ornaments.

  10. A friend of mine was trimming her horses manes and tails and sent me a bag full of dark brown, red and cream colored horse hair. I sewed the dark brown (because it was the longest) into a fabric band and trimmed and hot glued the ends together. Then, I washed the hair before attaching the 'bangs' (?) and mane between the top ears. The part that goes over the back of the head is not super thick but I have a lot of brown hair so it looks really full and realistic on me in the photo.
