Christmas Reminisce & A Late Start

This year finds me a tad behind schedule in putting up our Christmas decor. The house is a disaster at the moment with boxes of decorations everywhere! It's always a process with me because I rebel against doing the same thing each year.
Our 2010 White Christmas at my parents home in North Carolina.
My oldest daughter's birthday is November 30 and she always requested the tree be up and decorated by her birthday. She's in California now, happily married and of course, had all her decorations up before her birthday!
The grandchildren handprint garland.
So, you find me watching Christmas movies on the Hallmark Channel (of which my son asked "Don't these corny movies get on your nerves?") and decorating the house.
We need to make 2 more!
I decided to pull out a few of my favorite decor photos from Christmas 2010. Christmas in North Carolina as well as...

at home in Oklahoma.
Regardless of my attempts to change things up a bit the "We Three Trees" are going back in the same spot. (Oh, that's  what I did with the tree tops! I was wondering!)
The mantle hasn't been decorated yet so maybe I can whip up something different. I love this shot, though.
So, here's to happy decorating and hoping I can get the boxes back in the attic as quickly as possible!

Who's finished with their Christmas decorating and shopping?

Like I said, running a bit behind schedule this year. I've barely gotten started!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

  1. Hi Sonya! Happy to find and 'meet' you. My friend, Lisa, ran across your blog from pinterest and shared 'you' with me. So, we've been pinning your stuff. I love your blog and happy to follow along. When you have a minute, go check out my website and blog at redhouseranch.com. Happy decorating! Have a great day!

  2. Your pictures are so beautiful, Sonya! That is a great shot of your mantel! I'm done with the decorating {until I find some other cute thing while I'm out supposed to be buying gifts!}. I just have to get a few things for my son and then I'm done. I'm expecting two other gifts to be delivered shortly and that's it. I was actually ahead of myself this year and went to the post office yesterday to mail out gifts for my nephews and parents! I'm usually buying gifts up to the last minute, even if they are stocking stuffers, but I think I'm good this year. And I don't know how I managed that, but I'm rollin' with it!

  5. Your decorations from last Christmas are so beautiful! I can't wait to see how everything looks this year. :)

Keith and Libby did all our decorating because I just wasn't feeling inspired, just tired. (I'm beginning to think there is NO WAY we can really be sisters. :)

  6. Hi Sonya: You aren't behind at all. I have not started except the tree is up and my husband did attempt to put lights on it. I have to take the lights off and re-do before I can start putting ornaments up. So... you're doing great! Your photos are gorgeous! I'm so inspired! Nice to be back, I've been off the blog for a while.
    Take care,

  8. I love the mantel--I say replicate it! I know what you mean, I looked at my last year's photos and thought the same thing, 'oh, that's what I did...'

  9. It's looking more and more like I may have to use photos of X-mas past. I am just soooo lazy this year! Love that grandkids banner. Such a cute idea!

  12. Sonja, I was going to have it all done and sit back and truly enjoy the season this year. And then the painting began...this place looks like someone picked it up, shook it and set it back down. I feel for you! Everything you do is beautiful so I know it will be again this year. Stop, make yourself some hot chocolate and watch a sappy movie...they're the best aren't they? :-) I've seen some over & over but I still love to watch them.

  13. Very pretty, Sonya. Love the mitten garland. What a clever idea!
I am done with all the decorating that I am going to do this year. This year has been harder for me than any other.
I am so far behind on my shopping. I must get a move on and get it done!
    Happy Holidays~
