If we were playing a game and I was required to use a phrase from a Christmas carol to describe a family member...(I know, it's a stretch but bear with me)...this phrase could be used to describe my Sister-in-law, Gina! It suits her to a tee!
While I was busy lamenting my wavering decorating dilemma of color versus neutrals, Gina was busy going ALL OUT decorating her home for Christmas in happy, bright and not-so-traditional, colors.
She is fearless with her love of color and whimsy.
I left her home feeling inspired and ready to go home and create! Anything and Everything!!!
This collection of fun and cheerful Christmas items graces the center of a large island in her kitchen.
It just makes me smile! It's so fun, whimsical and festive.
I had just finished some new window treatments for her kitchen and took my camera along so I could stalk her house and soak up all the inspiration! Both Christmas and everyday.
For the large kitchen window above her sink, Gina chose a white, pre-ruffled fabric for the curtain panels and a multi colored silk stripe for the top.
We chose to make simple unlined panels and top then with the double ruffle poof valance. As you can see in the above photo, the valance consists of a double, flat fold, attached valance that is then pulled apart to make the "poofs".
Stay tuned! There's lots more colorful Christmas inspiration from Gina coming soon!
Merry Christmas!

What cute Christmas decor. That is a very sweet description of your sister-in-law. Merry Christmas Sonya!
ReplyDeleteI <3 color! I'm so, also, loving those new window treatments. I don't recall seeing pre-gathered fabric and I love the poof. (Did I use "love" enough?!) Anyway, after Xmas, I need to make my friend's bedrm. window treatments and she wants something "extra" at the top--this may be it. Hugs! (I see you've skirted around your decor :)).
ReplyDeleteThat is so fun, Sonya! I love these colors she's used. I can see a bit of her wall color so these colors probably work really well in her kitchen, along with the silk stripe of the curtains. I haven't seen the ruffled fabric before, but I love it!
ReplyDeleteI love all of the non traditional colors! I can never seem to convince myself that it would look good in my house though! I can't wait to see more.
ReplyDeleteMy goodness...this is such a FUN style...love it!!! Merry Christmas to you and your family.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Linda

Sonya, these are such fun colors!! Yes, truly, "Merry and Bright"; and I love it!! I've been catching up on all of your holiday posts. Like you, I keep teetering between the natural/neutral scheme and color. Color keeps winning! LOL! I see all of the pretty natural decor on the blogs; and I love it. But, when I try it in my home...it just doesn't work! So, color wins!
ReplyDeleteWow you have some wonderful decorations. I am so glad I found your special place here. Thanks for sharing. I will follow on my way out so as I would love to visit again. I hope you will find the time to come visit my place and do the same. Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and I look forward to engaging and supporting your blog in the New Year. Cheers SpecialK XoXo
ReplyDeleteSo cute! Most of the customers Heather paints for are doing full on color. I'm like you, torn between the two. Although I always come back to the neutrals. Then sometimes I feel boring. Aaahhhh!
ReplyDeleteVery lovely decor, so love the curtains. How sweet of you to share her with us.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas

Oh! I love it! So fun!! My favorite is the Merry and Bright Sign!! Thanks for linking it up today!! Merry Christmas!
ReplyDelete{And lovely window treatment by the way!}
I love her decor! Although I like looking at all the white and neutrals in magazines and blogs, if I had to live with all white lights and neutrals at Christmas, I'd find the holiday rather plain. Some of you have the knack for neutrals and it's pretty. We tried that one year a long time ago and really missed the color.
ReplyDeleteThere are so few times in life when it's accept for everyone's child at heart to come out. For me, I take advantage of that and fill my home with color and things I like.
My Christmas decor may not always match my normal home decor, but it's all the things I've seen for many years. I don't think I could bear to get rid of the colored Christmas lights, red Santas, and bright ornaments.
Sounds like your SIL and I have a lot in common that way. Thanks for sharing all her adorable things.
Great Christmas decor. I love the holiday colors Gina used. I'm a girl who loves color myself. I live the merry and bright sign. Still love your header! Thanks for sharing at Sunday's Best and wishing you Happy Holiday's.
ReplyDeleteI love the neutrals too in the more formal spaces of my home but in the end.. well bring on the color. What would you expect from a woman who named her blog BeColorful? :0
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas,
Pam
