Isn't this skirt cute?
There's three different tiers of green taffeta-like silk
and it probably looked absolutely adorable
on some sweet little girl!
But, alas, it just wasn't meant to stay a skirt forever!
A friend found this at the thrift store
and gave it to me wondering if I could use it.
She had thought of making it into an apron.
Cute idea...but I was thinking it would make a great
ruffled pillow for my youngest daughter's room
(I tend to always think "pillow"!)
First, I had to ask my daughter if she liked it.
SHE DID!
I asked what she thought we could do with it
and she said...
LAMPSHADE!
Don't you love it when your kids come up with
great creative ideas!
LET'S GO FOR IT!
Enter this hanging shade.
Cute, but it had been like this for 4 years.
Time for a change!
Out comes the good old (and I really mean OLD)
glue gun!
VOILA!
but...
Something wasn't right!
(Isn't Millie cute?)
The shade looked great but we didn't like it
against the green roman shade.
OOPS!
So since it's easier to change out the hanging
lamp shade than to remake the roman shade...
We went to PLAN B!
Enter lamp shade #2.
Now, I love this shade. It used to be
one of my shirts!!!
No kidding!
And I will definitely be using this shade on another lamp.
But my daughter wanted to use the "skirt shade"
so we persevered!
So this black lamp base...
(which had already been painted once before)
Became this...
which sits here...
And we have a Happy 13yr old!
Believe it or not the lamp base is
"watermelon" gloss pink by Krylon
where as the DREAM is
"pumpkin orange" gloss by Krylon.
(This photo doesn't do the colors justice.)
NOTE:
This room is soon to be under construction
because said 13yr old doesn't want pink
walls anymore! I think I might cry!
So there will be a full room reveal
sometime in the not too distant future!
Have a Creatively Blessed Day!

Sounds like said 13-year-old is a lot like her mother! (Likes to change things up.) Cute, cute room and lamp shade(s).
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that adorable lampshade! Said 13 year old apparently has her mother's creativity. :) Please come redecorate my house!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea to make it a lampshade! I love ruffles like that and it looks like it was perfect for that application. Have fun redoing her bedroom!
ReplyDeleteThat's so cute mom! If I even had a lamp then I would come up with something creative to do to it--it's on the list. :)
ReplyDeleteDarling! I liked that it was hanging (like a real skirt) in the first photo, but it was smart finding another spot for it :).
ReplyDeleteLove the skirt and shirt shades. Great ideas! Good luck with your daughters room. My daughter is only 9 and wants a new room every couple of years...yikes!
ReplyDeleteTks for stopping by :)
I think that is the cutest lampshade I have ever seen!
ReplyDeleteSuper cute! Great way to upcycle that skirt too!
ReplyDeleteI love the ruffly lampshades!
