Where Did This Pillow Come From?

I am NOT an assembly line designer.
Meaning, I truly dislike having to repeat myself.
I don't mind making 10 pillows...as long
as they're NOT ALL THE SAME!

So I really enjoy it when someone brings me
something unique!

Enter this piece of burlap found at the thrift store.
When a friend brought this over I could
tell it was originally supposed
to be something else...
I just wasn't sure what!

Printed around the edge was a website.

So I looked it up and found this...

Our burlap was intended to be a hooked rug!

But we had other plans for this fun piece!
So with some remnant fabrics, black trim
 and a feather pillow form...

We turned the thrift store find into...

this adorable pillow!

Here it is in her home!

I love that we can take something
intended for one thing
and make it into something entirely different!

  2. Love the black trim and white ruffle on this pillow, Sonya! I don't think I could make the same pillow twice just from lack of enough fabric and, anything involved, I would just forget how I did it.

  5. Just found your blog via a commenter on my blog. Love it. Love what you do with fabric. I don't know how to turn a sewing machine on and it DRIVES ME CRAZY cause I'm a DIYer and there are so many things I could do if I knew how to sew. Would love to teach myself when there's time some day. Until then, my windows will likely remain bare. My pillows will be store bought and my lampshades will be painted (that's my lame attempt to customize). Your window treatments are superb. Love it all.

  6. Meant to weigh in on the color question. Normally I would advocate for color but in your case your neutral walls do such a great job showcasing your fabric creations and none of your rooms appear bland or boring.
