A few weeks ago I mentioned
that I'd have a
room makeover
for you in the near future!
Well, here's Part 1!
We have 4 children. Three girls and one boy!
My youngest daughter, and baby of the family,
is 13!!!
Where did the years go?
When we built our house we painted her room pink!
Sorry, I don't really have any full fledged "before" pictures!
To tell you the truth, it was just too messy and I was ready to
paint! And who wants to clean up a room for pictures
just to tear it all apart???
There's are few before pictures in THIS post!
(Feel free to go take a look...
I'll wait...)
OK, so moving on...
I moved everything out of the room and into the hall!
And I do mean
"I" MOVED EVERYTHING!
Not because my sweet husband wouldn't help me
but because I was ready to do it
RIGHT THEN
And didn't want to wait for him!
So, as usual when I am in my
"I AM WOMAN, HEAR ME ROAR"
frame of mind, I get a little carried away and...
OOPS!!!
Maybe, moving the bed by myself was NOT the best idea!
But, a little wood glue and a couple of screw later
we're good as new!
One of the best things
about building a house is the
opportunity to "customize" as you go.
When the framers were done, I realized that they had
inadvertently added about
3ft to the depth of the widow alcove!
Bonus for ME! Yea!!!
I immediately JUMPED on this opportunity
and said
"I want the entire space made into
an over sized window seat!".
The Builder, Trim Carpenter and Painters ALL thought I was NUTS!
Until they saw the end result!
This is one of my most
favorite things in the whole house!
Because I knew it would be covered with a cushion,
I had the storage built as you see above.
This is where we store old stuffed animals we can't seem
to part with and old dress-up clothes!
(Again, you can see a glimpse of the before HERE.)
So with help from my sweet husband,
two days and two coats of paint later...
Sherwin Williams Glad Yellow is our new color!
I'm loving it!
So is my baby girl!
(I think I can still call her that!!!)
Part 2 coming soon!!!
Have a Colorfully Blessed Day!!!

Nice yellow, too, Sonya! I love the window seat ~ we have one in our great room with door storage for games and stuff. I was thinking of adding some chandelier crystals I have to the ceiling fan light fixture in my master closet/sitting room {open to each other} and I see it looks good on yours. What did you use to attach them to the light part of the fan?
ReplyDeleteOh, so cute! Love the yellow. And the window seat is AWESOME. Can't wait to see the rest of it! Great job!
ReplyDeleteI'd love for you to check out my blog for a fun giveaway!

I love the transformation! I find myself in those "I'm not waiting on husband" situations myself AND have also had little "ooops" as a result. I am so happy I found your blog...love your pillows!
ReplyDeleteI loved the pink but sometimes little girls outgrow the pink stuff. lol This is a pretty shade of yellow and I can't wait to see what you do with it.
ReplyDeleteLoving that yellow! And hello! That window seat is fabulous!!
ReplyDeleteThe window seat is a dream come true!! I love the new color...from little girl pink to teen queen yellow. Can't wait to see the rest. I'm working on my teen's room right now too. Just a few tweaks, not the major work we did last year. And next year my 10 yr old gets a room re-do. Kids rooms are fun!
ReplyDeleteI love the window seat and the storage. Plus, the yellow is very pretty. Thanks for letting us know the brand of paint and names of the colors you use.
