Poof Top Window Treatments

I'm taking a short break from wedding details today to show you these amazing poof-top window treatments. These panels have the distinction of being created from the most unusual fabric I have ever worked with. This silver metallic is called Onyx and is simply stunning!

These panels were one of the last projects completed before I stopped working to focus on my daughter's wedding.
McKenzie, a soon-to-be high school senior, chose a color scheme of deep aubergine, silver, gray and cream for her bedroom.
After seeing the poof-top style panels in the Gallery, McKenzie knew exactly what she wanted her window treatments to look like. From fabric samples she and her mom Shellie had gathered, we chose this amazing metallic for the panels and a soft gray "button" sheer for the under panels.
McKenzie's room is still "under construction" which is why you still see glimpses of painter's tape. McKenzie has been doing a lot of the work herself, including painting the harlequin pattern on the focal wall behind the bed.
Using a custom matched paint for the dark purple, McKenzie used a silver metallic called "shimmer" for the compliment in her harlequin pattern. "Gravity" by Valspar was the base coat for the remainder of the bedroom. She is in the process of color washing the base coat with mixture of "Metropolis" mixed with water.
This dramatic, utterly feminine, teenage space has a bit of a Hollywood Glam feel to it. The perfect retreat for such a beautiful girl who loves glitz and glamour!

Check back next time for details on the contruction of these poof-top panels.

  1. Wow! This is a cross between regal and almost space-age. There certainly is a lot of detail going on. I'd even like to see a tutorial on the harlequin wall. Hugs, Kim
