Wedding Table Decor...Vintage Style

Vintage would have to be the word that popped up the most when my daughter Courtney was planning her wedding. Her heart was set on an outdoor, vintage inspired wedding. And I think we were able to achieve that. See Wedding on the sidebar for previous posts.
One of the first things she knew she wanted was table numbers from wood fence posts.
We acquired our first few fence posts for free while waiting in the drive thru at Sonic! Courtney and I happened to be behind a guy hauling bits and pieces of an old fence in a flatbed trailer. Courtney hopped out of the car and calmly asked the gentleman if he was getting rid of the wood. When asked if we could have some of it, he was delighted, waited for us to get our Dr. Peppers and even helped us load them into the back of my car! My husband was mortified! Courtney and I couldn't quit laughing! Thank you nice Sonic man!
Each post was 8" tall, white washed with numbers 1-22 hand painted in black on two sides.
The next two elements we decided on for the tables were blue canning jars and old, distressed books.
"Perfect" really was the title of this old romance novel turned table decor. Perfect...wasn't it?

Each jar was filled with a variety of fresh, cut flowers and greenery in shades of pink, white and green.
See HERE for more info on painting canning jars.
Each table setting also included a set of distressed books. The books were distressed by tearing off the covers (if they weren't already missing) and using plain old wood stain wiped on with a rag. Most of the sets consisted of 2 books, some were three. Each set was wrapped with various combinations of lace, ribbon, tulle and twine.

Each table also included shipping tags turned guest tags which had been distressed & tied with ribbon. Along with the tags was a note asking guests to write a special note, a wish or a prayer for the new couple.  A precious keepsake for Courtney and Drew.
Each round table was layered with a white table cloth and a burlap runner. A glass, silver or ironstone platter (all of which were borrowed from family members) was added to each table. All of the elements listed here as well as votive candles completed each table.  At the moment I seem to only have photos of bits and pieces of the decor but not an entire table.

The last photo shown is of the flower filled milk bottles that graced the altar/dresser at the ceremony.
I hope you enjoyed seeing the elements we used to decorate the tables at Courtney and Drew's vintage inspired wedding reception!

  20. Vintage wedding themes offer a gorgeous and unique way to personalize your wedding day. Its wedding table clothes are the perfect way to top off your wedding reception tables if you are having a retro wedding. The most important aspects of wedding are wedding table decorations as this is where the guests spend the most amount of time during the reception. Thanks a lot.
