In my post, Tips for Working with Burlap, I mentioned I had acquired about 20 burlap coffee sacks. Jana, a reader of Beyond the Screen Door, contacted me after she saw this post and asked if I would be interested in purchasing some coffee sacks her Mom, Jenny was selling. Well, YES!
Just a few of the designs I bought from Jenny.
That very day a client saw the coffee sacks in the back of my car and chose two to have made into pillows.
She wanted ruffles so I made two 20" pillows and added ruffles made from drop cloths. I thought the two fabrics were just made for each other!
Due to the open weave of the coffee sacks, I lined each pillow with muslin.
Thank you Jana and Jenny!

Oh I love that pillow Sonya. I sent you an email yesterday, so be on the look out for it, hopefully it did not go to spam.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Sonya! I love the burlap and the dropcloths used together, but I also love the idea of a ruffle softening up these textiles.
ReplyDeleteThey are so gorgeous! And I love the ruffle!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous...I love the little ruffle you added :o)

Beautiful - I'm your newest follower. I was looking at this and your stuff for sale and had a question about a possible custom order. I think it would be neat for my kitchen table to have a table cover made out of these sacks and then for the sides have the soft ruffles (maybe about 1 foot down in length) - could you do something like this and how much would it be. My table is small, I would have to measure it but I believe it is 37-42 inches in diameter. You can e-mail me at sales@inspiredbyfelicity.com

ReplyDeleteThose are really nice, Sonya. How lucky were you to get those sacks? It was a good idea to line them w/muslin, too.

ReplyDeleteThanks so much Sonya for stopping by my blog. I'm glad you liked the pictures. Please come back soon.
ReplyDeleteYour pillows look great and I like the drop cloth ruffles. I made one pillow last month from an old coffee bean sack I found at GW. You can see it under my post "You Asked for It."

ReplyDeleteI have a couple of coffee sacks and think I will TRY to make a pillow. No ruffle, tho,....I can come as close to standing on my head holding two wild zebras as I could making a ruffle and adding it to a pillow. :))
